Her journey across six states

Endurance runner Sumedha Mahajan’s (left) story is sure to bring to mind a few rushes from the Tom Hanks-starrer, Forrest Gump (1994), where he was shown setting out on a three-year coast-to-coast marathon. Three years is a bit far-fetched in real life, but Sumedha ran 1,500 km from Delhi to Mumbai, earning her an entry into the Limca Book of Records. Sumedha has penned the account of her journey covering six states, in her book Miles to Run Before I Sleep, which was launched recently. The subtitle of the book aptly states Sumedha’s story in a sentence — how an ordinary woman ran an extraordinary distance.

She was the only woman to have completed the 1500 km run and now she is back with another record breaking performance. Sumedha ran the 24 hour run held in Gurgaon earlier this month and set a new national record by completing 151 kilometers.
